This is a hidden gem!! It’s not far from us, but we had never heard of it. That situation has changed!! Alta Lake State Park [especially site #73] is the perfect place to set up your van/tent/hammock for a great nature night! We came over on a THURSDAY night, slept on our new full mattress for the first time, enjoyed a night and morning swim, and I paddled across the lake and back. The bathrooms are clean and offer showers if the lake isn’t an adequate rinse for you! We’ll definitely come back here again. 🙂
There are three camping loops, but only one is next to the lake. We highly recommend site #73 or any of the other sites close to the water. You can reserve online, or just show up [before 10pm] and see what’s available. Plan to enjoy the water, it’s warm and clean!
